Most new artists struggle this day and time to establish their self and the musical identity, Experimenting by trying different styles of music to see what best suits them, and promotes them as an artist. On the other hand there are a few who come out with all guns blazing, in full command of their craft, kicking asses and taking names and their music is their identity. Janava Jay'Nava Crandall fits firmly in this other hand category. His music is captivating and moving and it marks the arrival of a young gifted and significant new talent, one who is aimed to make you move and be able to relate to everyday life, because lets just be real, not every one can afford to wake up in a new Bugatti.
A North Carolina boy who grew up in the Rocky Mount area, not to far from the state capital Raleigh, Crandall played sports as a child, but didn’t take music seriously until he was in his mid 20’s. He explains, “I've always had an interest in music when it came to battle dancing and free styling just having fun, but a friend convinced me to take it to another level. So I picked up a pen and a pad and started written down the ideas I heard in my head. Once I recorded a few songs I began going threw what I call, “the post-artist lifestyle.” I wasn’t interested in anything I was doing other than music. I lived, slept, and ate music, and I loved this range of my life.”
