Having or involving a sensation of spinning around and losing one's balance. "She felt dizzy."
To make (someone) feel unsteady, confused, or amazed. "the dizzying rate of change"
From a young age, JD "Dizzy" Cutting has worked to keep his balance in a world that spins wildly around him. At the age of 7, he and his family left Canada to pursue a life half way across the world, in Muscat, Oman. JD would do his best to deal with the adversity of his new home, finding influence and comfort from snippets of Western media and music. No inspiration would be more powerful than his first glimpse of 2Pac's "California Love", spied on an MTV satellite feed. In that moment, an instant love and appreciation of hip hop was gilded - this became the foundation for a life long love affair with music.
Returning to Calgary, Canada at the age of 13, JD once again found himself at odds with the world and people around him. His experience with constant isolation and adaptation would hold as fodder for the pages upon pages of lyrics he would pen - a passion unbeknownst to his family and friends. At the age of 17, he began recording his work using only a headphone taped to a Kleenex box. Encouraged by the enthusiastic responses of his colleagues, JD continued to hone his writing and performance skills. Kleenex boxes begot local studios begot live performances - balancing himself in the eye of the storm, JD became Dizzy.
In the next few years, Dizzy would work hard to accumulate a myriad of accomplishments, recording 2 mixtapes with his first group, The Royalties, and pursuing a mentorship with Toronto's MC Oz (Sony/BMG). These successes only fueled his desire to create and inspire. The release of his debut solo EP entitled "G5 Dreams", and his sophomore mixtape, "In The Meantime" gave rise to a myriad of performance opportunities, including opening spots with Juvenile, Joe Budden, D12, Common, WC, E40, Big Sean and more. These opportunities culminated with Dizzy's first North American tour, as the official opening act for Bone Thugs N' Harmony in late 2012.
Re-energized from the momentum of his first tour, Dizzy quickly began compiling work for his next challenge - a full length solo album release entitled "U Feelin Dizzy Yet?". This impassioned work includes features from Ace Hood (We The Best/YMCMB), Krayzie Bone (Bone Thugs N Harmony) and Kevin Cossom (RCA), and showcases Dizzy's ever-maturing precision and style. It's no surprise that this release sparked a new tour opportunity with The Dog Pound Gang in 2013, featuring Dizzy on 10 Canadian tour dates, as well as interest from A&R's at 604 Records.
With recent memorable performances (Method Man + RedMan, MGK) and coast to coast airplay of his newest single "O.T.O.M.G." featuring Kevin Cossom, Dizzy continues to command the attention of an ever-increasing fan base. Look for a brand new mixtape due to release Spring 2014, in addition to new tour dates in March with Bone Thugs N Harmony.
