Personally, I am kinda glad they stop playing it so much. But congrats to Pharrell. I am sure he is eating well off of this song. Several awards and plenty of revenue to show from his project. - Crunkatlanta
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Official Charts Company stated that "Happy" dethroned Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," another cut produced by Pharrell himself. The provocative number was the best-selling single of 2013 in the U.K.
In total, this marks Williams's third entry in the Top 10. "Get Lucky," his funky collaboration with Daft Punk, ranks at No. 6.
In celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Official Download Chart, the music sales tracker reported that all three tracks have sold more than one million copies within a year; only the Beatles have achieved this feat in Britain prior to this.
While "Happy" and "Blurred Lines" sit pretty at No. 1 and No. 2, selling 1.62 and 1.59 million tracks respectively, the third spot is secured by British singer Adele, whose popular track "Someone Like You" sold 1.53 million copies.
"I would just like to say thank you, first and foremost, to the people, because the charts are all determined by them," Pharrell said of the impressive feat. "I have a lot to be thankful for because they've chosen these things and it's resulted in 'Happy' being what it's become."
