Rapper Nelly arrested in Tennessee after police find meth, marijuana and guns on his tour bus
Why is it - with all the money and fame- these guys will still travel with the bad stuff. Not saying to do it at all.. but travel away from it . Crunkatlanta
Tennessee Highway Patrol said in a news release that Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes, was pulled over about 9.20am because the bus he was riding in failed to display a U.S. Department of Transportation and International Fuel Tax Association sticker.
According to the release, the trooper smelled marijuana when they reached Nelly's bus, giving them probable cause to search the vehicle.
Six people were aboard and one identified as Brian Jones, 44, a convicted felon who was also charged for possession of a handgun.
When troopers searched the sleeper area on the bus, they found five rocks that tested positive for meth, as well as a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
In a statement, the rapper's lawyer stated: 'Nelly was one of several individuals that was on a tour bus that was stopped and searched while traveling through Tennessee.
'In fact, there had been 15-20 people that had access to the bus prior to the stop.
'Allegedly, a small quantity of contraband was discovered during the routine search. We are extremely confident that when the facts come out, Nelly will not be associated with the contraband that was allegedly discovered.'
