In a brief update Thursday morning, police reported that the incident occurred at a check cashing business on Spring Road, where the suspect was armed with a handgun. Smyrna Police have urged the public to avoid the area near Spring Road and Cumberland Boulevard, close to Truist Park. Several roads in the vicinity remain closed.
