The EP was inspired by an interview Craig did with Tim Westwood and Marley Marl in 2000 where he mentions about dropping an album that summer called 'That's My Word' but, as we all know, that album never dropped.
"Bet I see you 2000, n***a that's my word" - 'The Wooden Horse'.
In the year 2000 Craig Mack was on the verge of a comeback thanks to his, 45 King produced, classic 'The Wooden Horse' which was getting regular spins on New York's Hot97 and BBC's Radio 1 Rap Show despite the fact that it was a white label release.
During an appearance on the Radio 1 Rap Show's New York Live special, in June 2000, Craig announced he was dropping a third album that Summer titled 'That's My Word'. But as the Summer of 2000 came and went his 'That's My Word' project never appeared and was never mentioned again.
A few titles have been thrown out there over the years for Craig's third album ('Operation Why2K?', 'The Affiliation' and 'Who I Bee?' being the main three) but nothing has been more concrete than 'That's My Word' which actually came straight from Craig himself on radio!
DJ Tape Deck King has put together a collection of singles Craig Mack released in 2000, which could have potentially been intended for his 'That's My Word' LP, alongside snippets from his New York Live interview and the freestyle he performed as well.
Dedicated to the memory of Craig Jamieson Mack (10/05/1970 - 12/03/2018). MackWorld Forever!!!
On a final note, if anyone has contact details for Craig's widow, Roxanne, please contact us with them as Tape Deck Productions would like to provide her with a percentage of any sales made from this project as a token of appreciation for her late husbands contribution to the Hip-Hop culture.
