MC Breed, a legendary Atlanta/Flint, Michigan based rapper, died today (November 22), according to a source with AllHipHop.com.
While details are still being confirmed, several sources told AllHipHop.com that the rapper died early this morning.
“He’s no longer with us,” said a tearful friend, who shall remain anonymous. “We are in the process of putting together a benefit concert, hopefully at Saint Andrews to raise money for a funeral,” the source told AllHipHop.com.
MC Breed, born Eric Breed, was a 15-year-veteran who was born in Flint Michigan.
He worked with a number of rappers, including Too $hort and Tupac Shakur.
On September 5, Breed was admitted to an Atlanta area hospital and placed on life support, after he collapsed when his kidneys failed, during a game of pickup basketball.
His condition began to improve and he was taken off of life support a few days later.

Ozone Magazine was founded in Orlando, Florida in 2002, it has since expanded its vast reach nationally. In 2006 the magazine relocated it's headquarters to Atlanta, Georgia. OZONE was founded by Julia Beverly who is still the Editor In Chief of the magazine. She is the daughter of Peter and Nancy Beverly. Julia has a younger sister and two younger brothers. Availability at these retailers does vary regionally. The magazine has helped launch and maintain the careers of many southern emcees such as Stat Quo, Pitbull, and T Pain but does not limit itself to coverage of only southern artists. Ozone has featured several artists that are not from the south and had Chicago emcee Twista on the cover of its January 2006, and October 2007 issues.
The magazine has a small number of staff and contributors, most of whom have been with the magazine for an extended period of time.
In addition to Publisher/Editor in Chief Julia Beverly, Features Editor Eric Perrin and Music Editor Randy Roper make frequent and significant contributions. Notable contributors include recording artist Killer Mike, Charlamagne the god, DJ Wally Sparks (known heavily for his successful mixtapes), Wendy Day (founder of Rap Coalition, contributor for other publications such as Murder Dog as well), and Rohit Loomba.
Ozone Magazine recently held its second annual Ozone Award Show at the James L. Knight Center in downtown Miami, Florida in conjunction with the TJ's DJs Tastemakers Conference. The awards were hailed as a great success for southern hip hop. Being the first awards show of its kind. The first annual Ozone Awards were held on August 6, 2006 and were hosted by Mississippi emcee David Banner and Miami emcee Trina. The awards focused on southern artists mostly and included performances by Lil Wayne, Trick Daddy, Rick Ross, Pimp C, and Too Short.
Thats where I come in . Me / myself, Crunkatlanta aka Eric tha Cunk , started off in Decatur, Ga. After I had moved there from Detroit in 1998. Always wondered why there were so many Detroiters in Atlanta but no one ever plays Detroit music there.
I launched my own website, Crunkatlanta.com - advertised for Indie artist, Crunk Energy Drink (Lil Jon) on the web as well as on the streets in Atlanta. Starting to gain a little notice among artist. The industry artist were showing me love and respect in what I was doing . I moved back to Detroit in 2005, Continuing Crunkatlanta.com and created Crunkatlantamusic on Myspace.
This focus was to get Detroit artists played elsewhere. Joined Ozone Magazine in January 2008 as a street promoter / writer for Detroit in the Rapquest section of the magazine. The Crunkatlantamusic movement continues......

What Is Crunk?:
The word “crunk” is a combination of “crazy” and “drunk.” True to its name, crunk utilizes a chaotic interpolation of club-oriented beats and a high-energy chorus.
Elements & Style:
Crunk songs are usually high-pitched and drum-heavy. They often employ repetitive, catchy refrains that make it fun and easy for crunk fans to chant along.
Crunk artists have been criticized for lack of unique lyrical content, but their defense is that the songs are club-oriented. After all, no one would like to scratch their heads over the lyrical content of a song while dancing in the club.
Pioneers:
Crunk originated in the 1990’s as a sub-division of southern rap in Atlanta, GA, and producer/artist Lil’ Jon is credited with spearheading the subgenre. The hype around crunk went from a buzz to a deafening sound in the mid 2000’s. Lil' Jon & The Eastside Boyz' albums Kings of Crunk and Crunk Juice helped solidify the presence of crunk in hip-hop.
Notable Crunk Artists:
Lil’ Jon & The Eastside Boyz
David Banner
Lil’ Scrappy
Pitbull
Youngbloodz
Rasheeda
Trillville
Crime Mob
Bone Crusher
Jacki-O
Notable Crunk Songs:
"Damn" - Youngbloodz
“Crunk Juice” – Lil’ Jon & The Eastside Boyz
“What You Gon’ Do” – Lil’ Jon & The Eastside Boyz ft Lil’ Scrappy
“Get Some Crunk In Yo System” – Trillville
“Never Scared” – Bone Crusher
Its the spot where upcoming artist can shine , get their music heard and network with others.
Lil' Jon, widely acknowledged King of Crunk, is synonymous with the music and lifestyle identified as Crunk. Lil Jon's albums Crunk Juice and Kings of Crunk have topped the charts across the globe. The visionary who developed the signature sound and attitude of crunk Hip-Hop music for over a decade, Lil Jon remains the dominant force of the Atlanta-based Crunk phenomenon that has swept across America. Hip-Hop, Music, & Energy The creation of beats and hooks so powerful that the audience is instinctively moved to sway, dance, and lose themselves in the moment, gave birth to crunk music. Crunk identifies music so powerful a word hadn't been produced for such a reaction until the imprint of crunk on the American consciousness. Straight Out Tha' A Crunk is the term popularized by Lil' Jon, the Atlanta born megastar Hip-Hop artist and producer, to describe a style of music that influences the youth and street scene of Atlanta and the entire south. For over a decade, Lil' Jon has put his signature sound to this southern music scene that has taken the country by storm and influenced a generation. Lil' Jon and his click of southern Hip-Hop artists are fully responsible for the rise and popularity of underground "club bangers" currently fueling the club scene across the country. Letting loose, feeling free, and expressing yourself is crunk. Lifestyle Hip-Hop has broad appeal because it was birthed from the truth. Though everyone is not from the streets, everyone has his or her own truth to tell, thus everyone can relate to Hip-Hop. Like Hip-Hop, crunk speaks to the genuineness of everyday street life. Crunk is a bi-product of Hip-Hop and southern pride and resilience. The significance of family, be it biological or community and uninhibited pride for your city or 'hood is central to the appeal of crunk on a youthful southern generation. With its global influence, the Hip-Hop community is not only defined by it's music, but also by its fashion, culture, and language.

Hip Hop... when associated with a city, many think of the boroughs of New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago, and Houston, but one city that slips through the cracks is Miami. Home to the 808 bass, see through water and yes the sexy ladies , this city is fast becoming a factor in the Hip Hop game. With a solid foundation already laid by Uncle Al (RIP), Uncle Luke, Trick Daddy and Pitbull, a new breed of emcees is emerging to bring the bottom of the sunshine state on the map for good. "Miami is a city whose time is over-do, back then, way before the crunk, way before the screwed......there was Bass!" K-OTIC says.
Thats where K-OTIC & Baysiqly come in. Two solo artist until mid 2002, the duo decided to take the game by storm. Each blessed with a distinct style unlike anyone else, K-OTIC and Baysiqly have formed a theory to work by. The theory... become the next Outkast, the next UGK the next Mobb Deep....duo's who had there own style which crowned them as legends within the game. Together K-OTIC and Baysiqly have formed DSI entertainment (Down South Infantry). "DSI is a name that came from my home boy Stealth Murdah around 2000. Back then we was just the part of the click from the block who use to rap, so we went by Down South Infantry" K-OTIC says.
DSI Entertainment is the independent label that K-OTIC & Baysiqly have molded into an up and coming rap powerhouse. A proud Baysiqly mentions "We handle our own man, everything from Recording, Graphic Designing, Production to Promotion..all in house" Baysiqly states. So now when you think of Hip Hop, think about Miami and DSI. DSI IS THE............. FUTURE!!
